Happy friendship Day!

The best friend you could ever have...is Jesus. Always waiting to speak with you, waiting for you to find time to spend with HIM. He has written the longest letter ever through the Holy Spirit and HIS people....If you really want to know His heart...read His word, get to know God's story from beginning to end, creation to 2nd coming of Christ.

I've been studying Church History this semester, and am learning that many church leaders throughout the Restoration movement pursued knowing God and His perfect will by studying God's word. I know I have much to learn about being a leader, and my desire is to learn through studying the life of Christ and learning from the Old Testament History and Old Testament Prophets.

Valentine's Day came and went with such speed this year. We hosted and sung for a Winter Coffee House, event sponsored by Women's Ministry. It was a great opportunity to share in a fun evening with some friends.

God has truly blessed me with special friends, family and brothers and sisters in Christ. May your life be blessed as mine is. You are apecial and God loves you very much.

"Friends" by Janet, 2/18/08
Friends are a blessing, yes they truly are
always by your side no matter how near or far.

You can count on them to cheer you on in the rough times of life
and they help you see the good things in the midst of strife.

May you cherish each and every friend that God sends your way
they truly are a blessing, each and every day.

So, as we celebrate our friends on this special night
don't forget that they are God's gift that bring us delight.

What joy to share with a friend, the life God grants us to live
may He be honored by all that we friends have to give.

And thanks be to God for the greatest friend , you see
Jesus Christ, His only Son, has truly set us free.

Now as I close this time of thanksgiving and prayer
May my friends know deeply of God's wonderful love and care.

Love ya, friends!
Janet

Walking with God on the Road You Never Wanted to Travel

Here I am to worship...to bow down...to say that "You're my God."

This weekend...I'll be leading praise and worship at St. Louis Christian College's Women's conference with some dear friends. It's been about a year since we did it last...always fun to do this together.

School is going well...I'm learning so much and am doing fairly well on my grades. I'm enjoying it tremendously and am looking forward to another semester. Bout ready to register this week.

I'm pretty busy coordinating Women's Ministry...as we begin from scratch and dream for the future impact of the ministry on the women of our church and the community. God is stretching me in this position.

I continue to work with women who have expereinced abuse of some type in a support group setting, and this has been a blessing to see them make progress.

I don't have much free time to do the Facebook or Xanga thing....as I am busy writing papers for school. But, thought I'd try to get on here once in awhile. I submitted a paper on suffering that I thought might be interesting to post here.  I may try to do that this weekend...probably after the weekend....too much going on this weekend.  Anyway...

I appreciate your prayers for all of the Praise Band and Vocal Team...good health...energy and joy as we lead women in praise and worship of our Great God.

Hoping all are well! Blessings!

Another Day...Another glimpse of Grace...and a hint of how much God loves each and every one of us.

Well, I can't believe that it has been almost 2 months since my last entry.  The summer has flown by.  I'm sure yours has too.  School is just around the corner...and we're all doing the last minute scramble for the school supplies, and enjoying the relaxed moments before school gets started for all of us.

Please allow me to catch you up with our family...

Our youngest daughter, Christina...is an official licensed driver...and now employed....and on her way to being an official highschool junior.  Wow, time really does fly by as our little ones get older.  It is nice to see her enjoying life,,,trying her hand at teaching piano, and exploring new things like voice lessons, a nice Christian boyfriend, and a missions trip to Seattle, WA...that she'd love to tell you about someday, just ask to see photos...or hear her phenomenal stories.

Andrea made it back from Mexico...safe and sound...just in time to go on family vacation with us.  This was a good time to debrief and visit before she starts back to school's busy schedule.  She and Steve (her boyfriend) have compared notes to their language training in different countries...they also have many stories to share and have lots of photos to share as well.  I hope that you'll get a chance to hear what she did while in Mexico.

Becky, Matt and the girls are doing well.  Matt and Becky will be celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary.  The girls are growing, communicating with understandable words, and now can sing up a storm, and are bringing us much joy to watch them love each other.

Steve has accepted the challenge to teach a "Leadership/Management/Administration" type class at St. Louis Christian College.  He's very excited about this opportunity, and has been planning lesson plans, and gathering materials and ideas for resources and topics of research and discussion.  This is his first!  And he is getting ready for classes that begin Aug. 23rd.

I'm also getting ready for classes.  I'll be in school for the next 3 semesters...year round...and then a 6 month practicum before projected graduation date of May 2009.  There's much to learn...and while I'm learning...I'll be exploring leadership of Women's Ministry at FCCF as a volunteer.  God gave me the desire a couple of months back, and I've been praying about how I could help, and now, am working towards building a leadership team to help me continue the work of Women's Ministry.  There's much to do...and I'm depending on God to help me as I go back to school and learn about Christian ministry and step out in leadership in this way.

I pray that you are all well, and that you are enjoying this season of your life.  I know God is leading me through another season that will be ministry oriented...as I tackle school and Women's Ministry at the same time.  I'd appreciate any prayers that might approach God's throne on behalf of me and my family.  May we continue to be open and willing servants, eager to learn and to lead as God leads us.

"Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me....I once was lost, but now amd found, was blind but now I see".  Oh these are familiar words to a favorite hymn written by John Newton, that I've been reading about this week in a book titled:  "CAPTURED BY GRACE", by David Jeremiah.  The author compares John Newton's journey to that of the Apostle Paul.  Interesting comparisons of 2 men who persecuted others and how God pursued them and changed their lives as they experienced God's grace first hand.  It's amazing to know that God sees us with such love, and has so much to share with us, and can't wait to have an intimate relationship with us, so that we can know HIM better.  He knows us and loves us so much...and HIS grace is reaching out to us from HIS loving heart.  This book has been a fresh reminder that we all need to experience God's grace.

I spoke with a young lady today, frustrated with life and looking for help...who wasn't sure why she came to church today...and I could only say that..."it was God's grace...reaching out to you".  I hope she'll come back...pray with me for her to come back, and get to know the Church family, and God.  She is not beyond God's loving reach.

As you face the remaining days of this summer vacation...may you be reminded of God's grace in your lives, and know that you are loved with a love that reaches beyond all obstacles to get to you.  May you also share that love and grace with those around you.

Blessings!

Janet

Happy Father's Day

What a day!  We had the opportunity to celebrate my husband, the father of my daughters...and we had a special service at church today with a special speaker, Bob Russell from Louisville, KY.  He was very challenging to us as a church family, but also to us wives and children to honor our husbands and fathers.   We honor God when we honor our father.

Father's Day has always been hard for me due to the strained relationship I had with my earthly father...but for the past 3 or 4 years it's been a different experience for me as I celebrate Father's Day with other people...It's an honor and a privilege for me to celebrate Father's Day...and I'm thankful because I know that God is my Father, and He cares for me...just like he cares for you.

I hope that this day is a special day for you as you celebrate your Father, or Father-in-law, brother, or son or son-in-law...who happens to be a father.  May you be an encouragement to all those fathers in your life.

Have a great week!

In HIS grip!

Janet

Summer is Just Around the Corner...yippee!!!

100_5354   We are on the verge of a busy summer at our household.  Many things on the "to do" list...I'm sure you know what I mean....all the things that are vying for your time and attention...and of course all the things you have to do to get ready for the next school year for those who have kids.  The summer schedule is full of opportunities to work in the garden, odd jobs around the house, outings/excursions with friends, playdates for the kids...and activities that bring the family together; like vacation, holidays, picnics, summer sports, sending kids off to college, etc..

So, what does your summer schedule look like?  Have you booked your summer calendar, already...do you have a lot going on like I do?  I hope that you'll find some time to do some things to nourish your soul, like reading...for fun, visiting with a good friend, walking around the block, playing with your kids/grandkids, becoming better acquainted with a neighbor, having a regular date(s) with your husband or boyfriend,.  These are just some of the things to do on my long list.  I also want to challenge you to make some time for the Lord:  find a good Bible Study...do some prayer journaling...pray for a friend in need...visit someone in the hospital or nursing home...volunteer for Vacation Bible School/teach a Sunday School class...mentor/disciple a youth/young adult...show hospitality...sponsor a kid for a Christian conference/camp or Mission trip.  These are just a few of the things that you can do this summer to glorify God...and to minister to someone else by investing in their lives.  This is NOT a complete list...just a few ideas to start your creative mind to thinking.

We're sending off our college aged daughter to Mexico this summer to study Spanish.  She is very excited about travelling and seeing some dear friends from Mexico and making new friends through this college study abroad program.  Our youngest daughter is planning and preparing for her summer missions trip to Seattle, Washington with kids from our youth group...and very hopeful to get her driver's license this summer.  Our oldest daughter, husband and our 2 granddaughters have a busy summer too...I'll be babysitting for the youngest while mommy and big sister do some summer activity for a couple of weeks.  We're glad to be able to see them as much as we do...We enjoy them being close.100_5123100_5169

I'll be starting college full time this August.  I hope to finish my bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry within 2 to 2.5 years at St. Louis Christian College.  I'm speaking periodically as God opens the door for me...and leading/coordinating praise and worship as God allows, also.  So, this year will be a new direction for me as I really focus on school this year.  I'm looking forward to learning about Christian Ministry and Administration as I work towards finishing my college degree.

May God open doors for you this summer to continue drawing near to HIM and to bring others alongside you.on your journey.  Have a great summer!

IN His grip and loving the journey,

Janet
